But the individuals who are unfairly labelled can experience negative consequences such as stigmatization and discrimination. To raise awareness about the harm of these labels, in 2016, The New Charis Mission (TNCM) initiated the “Unlabelled Run”, a 5km fun run and 10km competitive run, to advocate the removal of these harmful labels.
More than just a run, it is a clarion call to Singaporeans that we must unite to build an inclusive, cohesive, and compassionate society.
That is why Unlabelled Run advocates the removal of prejudicial labels in our society. The New Charis Mission seeks the creation of a greater awareness of unlabelling via the Unlabelled Movement.

ADVOCATE the message of unlabelling ![]() Every individual in this country matters, regardless of age, gender, race, language, and religion. Every person’s innate potential is limitless. Negative labelling can stifle and snuff out that potential. |
ASPIRE to be a significant Every ‘labelled’ individual, with sufficient support and encouragement, can aspire to be a significant contributor in society. We encourage ‘labelled’ individuals to be resilient and shake off the labels stuck onto them by others. ![]() |
AFFIRM those who were once being labelled but are now contributing in ways big or small ![]() We celebrate the unique contribution of each individual and the collaboration of all. We believe that there is strength and stability when a community is united. We seek to show how we share and care especially with those who are culturally and socially different from us. |
UNLABELLED RUN
23

Following the four editions, Unlabelled Run has evolved into the Unlabelled Movement to strongly carry forth the message that labels do not matter, but people do.
The Unlabelled Movement advocates that “Lives Impact Lives” where every member of society has strengths that play a part in building our society. We are grateful that this cause has been supported by Mayor Denise Phua, Minister Desmond Lee, Minister Grace Fu, and Speaker Tan Chuan-Jin.
